PAHULE SWEEPS DELTA WHILE DAVIS AND ANDERSON GET FIRST 2024 WINS

STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (July 28, 2024) – Jeffrey Pahule of Brentwood earned another sweep of Micro Sprint action at Delta Speedway presented by Valley Strong Credit Union on Saturday night, winning both the Super 600 and Non-Wing competition on the 1/7th mile dirt track in Stockton. Madera’s Logan Trevino has kept himself squarely in the winged Super 600 title fight as the incoming points leader and kicked off the night by leading time trials. Colton Huelsmann of Knightsen and Mattix Salmon of Fresno then won the ten-lap heat races.

Huelsmann and Pahule were the front row starters for the 30-lap feature. Pahule swooped around the outside of Huelsmann for a quick run to the lead.

2022 Restricted track champion Lucas Mauldin of Rancho Murieta tracked down Pahule in lapped traffic. Peyton Whitehouse and Alex Panella collided and spun out of the top-five, nearly gathering up the leaders in the process before the caution fell in turn four.

Panella and Whitehouse then collided again on the restart for an additional caution.

Pahule charged ahead of Mauldin for the win followed by Trevino in third, Mattix Salmon in fourth, and Huelsmann in fifth.

“It was kind of difficult getting through lapped traffic. Trying to stay as patient as possible and keep a quick pace,” Pahule said.

Jeffrey Pahule earned a perfect clean sweep of the Non-Wing division, leading the qualifying action, winning his heat race, then charging from fourth on the grid to win the 30-lap main event. Joe Silva won the other heat race of the evening.

Former track champion Dan Mognaga of Valley Springs and Mattix Salmon earned the front row starting positions for the Non-Wing nightcap on a cool and breezy evening.

Salmon used some three-wide trickery to manage to drive into the lead on the opening lap. Colin Kirby of Pleasanthill spun off the back of Pahule for the first caution of the race.

Pahule and Kevin Carter of Los Banos had a back-and-forth duel for third until Carter spun in turn three for the next caution. Pahule worked his way past Mognaga for second place on the restart. Mognaga battled back to retake the spot, then Pahule biked hard on the cushion in turn one to drop outside of the top-five.

Joe Silva flipped hard in turn one but was uninjured. After the red flag, Mognaga challenged Salmon for the lead. Mognaga and Salmon made contact in turn three, sending Salmon spinning with a flat left rear tire as well.

Pahule worked his way past Brody Rubio for second place but Mognaga enjoyed a straightaway lead with less than ten laps to go. Pahule tracked him down to take the lead on the inside in lapped traffic on lap 28. Pahule led the final two laps to complete the sweep in a come from behind performance. Mognaga finished second followed by Rubio, Stockton’s Vito Celli, and Manteca’s TK O’Brien.

Cameron Carraway of Castro Valley was the quickest Restricted qualifier while points leader Hayden Stepps of Oakdale and Clay Mibach of Placerville snared heat race wins.

Vacaville’s Jackson Tardiff and Davis made up a potent front row for their 25-lap main event with Stepps starting third. Davis used an outside move to take the lead in similar fashion as Pahule did in the Super feature. Carraway and Mibach crashed in turn four for the first caution flag but were able to rejoin the fray.

Stepps won a prolonged duel with Tardiff for second. Davis’ lead then evaporated when Kaiden Gowen slowed on the front stretch. Davis was undeterred, driving away from Stepps and Tardiff for the breakthrough win. Tracy’s Levi Osborne and a resurgent Carraway rounded out the top-five finishers.

Heat race action for the Jr. Sprints was split by Samantha Dozier of Vacaville, David Anderson of Clayton, Haven Sherman of Citrus Heights, and Easton Wright of Martinez.

Dozier jumped ahead of Sherman at the start of their 20-lap feature with Anderson in pursuit. Heavy traffic on lap 12 added to the intensity level. The leaders got a repreieve when Heston Stepps of Oakle stopped on the front stretch from the fourth position. Anderson used the restart to sail past Sherman for second. He then drove underneath Dozier in turn four as she lost steering on her machine and was forced to exit the race.

Anderson topped Sherman, Lucas Fenn, Wright, and Logan Fenn at the checkered flag.
