MATHERLY, PAHULE, STEPPS, AND DOZIER CELEBRATE VICTORIES AT FIRST NIGHT OF DUAL AT DELTA
STOCKTON, CALIFORNIA (September 1, 2024) – Jeffrey Pahule of Brentwood won his sixth-consecutive Non-Wing points paying feature at Delta Speedway on Saturday night, opening the two-night Dual at Delta competition presented by Valley Strong Credit Union. Non-Wing attracted an outstanding 31-car field to the 1/7th mile dirt track at the San Joaquin County Fairgrounds in Stockton. Pahule topped them all in time trials. TK O’Brien of Manteca, Mattix Salmon of Fresno, Caden Sarale of Stockton, and Vito Celli of Stockton won the heat races. B-Features were split by Jarrett Heimlich and Kevin Carter.
Pahule started shotgun for the 30-lap affair and never wavered, holding off one of the winningest drivers in Delta Speedway history in Sarale in second. Stockton’s Nikko Panella finished third followed by Dalton Hill of Madera Ranchos and Bakersfield’s Jett Yantis.
Like Pahule, Matherly kicked off his Super 600 winning night by taking the qualifying action with a blazing fast 9.588 second trip around the circuit over a field of 23 entries. Sarale, Yantis, and Colton Huelsmann split the 10-lap heat races.
Also like Pahule, Matherly won from the pole position in the 30-lap feature. Madera’s Logan Trevino fell out of the top-five with a late race incident on lap 27 to set up a sprint to the finish. Matherly darted ahead of Mattix Salmon for the win. Eric Botelho of Kerman was third followed by Stockton’s Alex Panella and points leader Pahule.
Oakdale’s Hayden Stepps’ victory in the 25-lap Restricted race was her fourth of the year. Levi Osborne of Tracy was the top qualifier with heat races won by Rio Linda’s Logan Reeves and Manteca’s Briggs Davis.
Cameron Carraway was racing for his first Restricted win but suffered heartbreak when his car would not refire after a red flag on lap eight. That thrust the fifth-starting Stepps into a lead position that was she never relinquished. Brodie Copeland of Los Banos finished second followed by Austin Lee of Placerville, Johnny Streeter of Galt, and Jackson Tardiff of Vacaville.
Samantha Dozier of Vacaville claimed her first Jr. Sprints victory of the season in a 20-lap event. Easton Wright, David Anderson, Dozier, and Lucas Fenn claimed the eight-lap heat races. Dozer rolled off third and used a three-wide maneuver at the start of the feature to charge into the lead.
Dozier left no doubt as she accumulated a three second advantage at the checkered flag while Anderson finished second. Heston Stepps, Fenn, and points leader Haven Sherman were the top-five finishers.
